RAUB, 20 JUNE 2026 —— The Pahang State Government will continue to provide strong support to ensure the sustainable growth of international-standard tourism events, further strengthening the state’s position as a leading ecotourism destination in Malaysia.

She noted that hotels, resorts, restaurants, and local traders have all benefited from the event, which serves as a catalyst for community economic growth.

“The hotel, resort, restaurant operators, and local businesses all gain from the organisation of this event, which stimulates the growth of the local community economy,” she said during the officiating ceremony of the 37th Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race held here today.

According to her, the competition attracted participants from various countries including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan, in addition to participants from across Malaysia.

She added that the state government also places strong emphasis on environmental education and conservation efforts through collaboration with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), including the organisation of a Biodiversity Camp involving students from across the country.

Leong further highlighted that the success of the event is the result of close cooperation between the government, private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and various agencies providing technical support and expertise.

“The Pahang State Government will continue to give due attention and support to ensure that tourism events like this can be sustained and further strengthened in the future,” she added.

The programme not only contributes to biodiversity conservation efforts but also reinforces Pahang’s position as a premier ecotourism destination, in line with the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026.
